It\u2019s Thanksgiving eve and many folks are planning their Black Friday excursions and getting ready for meals and family on Thursday.\u00a0 We live in a blessed land that has been filled with opportunities and freedom.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve heard a lot of the normal-for-the-season thank speak.\u00a0\u00a0 Folks are grateful for their families, homes, health and all the good things this great free country has allowed them to experience.\u00a0 That is all well and good.\u00a0 However, I never hear anyone say to whom they are thankful.\u00a0 Folks say how glad they are to have some good thing; but there is nothing more than an awareness of possessions, certainly not an acknowledgement of a personal God from whom comes every good and perfect gift.\u00a0 There is no humility; and, of course, there is no responsibility.<\/p>\n
Real thankfulness carries responsibility to the Giver.\u00a0 I think that is one of the reasons we want a generic Thanksgiving that allows us to celebrate just how pious we are in recognizing we have nice circumstances.\u00a0 Sorry, that doesn\u2019t cut it.\u00a0 We have been blessed, and God is the Giver of the blessings.\u00a0 It is to Him we owe (that\u2019s right \u2026 owe<\/em>) our thanks, and it is to Him we will be accountable as stewards of all that we have received.<\/p>\n 1 Timothy 1:17\u00a0 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.
